Geometry Dash 2.2 Features

Robert Topala released 2.2 version of Geometry Dash on December 19, 2023. It added 2 new game modes, Platformer and Swing Mode. Platformer mode has 4 official levels, The Tower, The Sewers, The Cellar and The Secret Hollow. A new level "Dash" was added, and tons of new icons, effects and music.

The update also added new features like camera controls, keyframe systems, area triggers, making it easier to play and customize levels.

What Changed from Geometry Dash 2.11 to 2.2?

Robtop has finally released 2.2 version of Geometry Dash after a long wait of 7 years. New version added 2 new gamemodes, editor triggers, new icons and much more. Here is a summary of new additions:

New Game Modes: Platformer and Swing

Platformer Mode

Geometry Dash has introduced a new Platformer mode in 2.2 version of Geometry Dash, which changes how the character in Geometry Dash works. It allows free movements of character from right to left, instead of auto running. You can also stop between the game, which was not allowed in other modes because cube shaped character used to run on its own.

Platformer Mode also has a checkpoint system that allows you to start game from the previous checkpoint instead of starting the level all over again. In this mode, you can explore whole level and discover hidden paths and secrets, which is impossible in other modes due to its speed.

Swing Mode

Swing Mode also known as Swing Copter, is the 8th mode of Geometry Dash. In the mode, the character swings like pendulum between the anchor points, switches the gravity when tapped. This mode focuses on timing as you need to release on perfect timing to clear the obstacles.

New Official Level: Dash

Dash

Dash is the only new addition level in this update and is rated insane difficulty. It has introduced purple spider orbs and has camera customization and reverse triggers option that allows to change the direction of icon. Dash has 3 secret coins hidden in the game.

Explorer Level

Explorer was to be released in 2.2 update but it was delayed and now it will be added in 2.21 version of Geometry Dash.

Platformer Mode Levels

Four levels in platformer modes were added:

• The Tower
• The Sewers
• The Cellar
• The Secret Hollow

These levels reward Moons instead of Stars on beating.

New Editor Tools and Triggers

Geometry Dash 2.2 update adds new editor tools and triggers, including camera controls, keyframe systems, music etc. It included 86 total triggers including Player Control, Scale, Arrow, Gravity Triggers etc.

Camera Controls

2.2 version of GD allows players to control camera completely, including zoom effect.

Keyframe System

It allows to animate the objects in game very smoothly. Before this update it was very difficult to make these movements smooth.

Area Triggers

It allows to apply effects on specific objects, whereas before this update players had to apply effects on whole screen.

Gradient Trigger

Gradient Trigger allows to add smooth gradient on the background, and it has a lot of options and different types.

Icons and Customization

The update also introduced 700+ new icons and other customization options:

• 700+ new icons added.
• 5 new shards added, 'Earth', 'Metal', 'Blood', 'Light' and 'Soul'.
• "Music Unlocker" and "Music Customizer" added.
• Two new Shops, "the Mechanic" and "the Diamond Shop" added.
• RGB and HEX values, making color selection easier.
• 48 new fonts and 39 new backgrounds.
